The Maasai are one of Kenya's most iconic communities, known for their rich culture and pastorilist life style. However, they face serious challenges including limited access to clean energy and healthcare, low school enrollment and retention and the growing impact on climate change.
2009
The Nalepo Initiative vision was first championed in 2009 by our late founder, Zacharia Kamakei ole Munyake. He was a passionate advocate for the empowerment of the Maasai community. Under his guidance and leadership we implemented numerous community driven projects that made a lasting impression.

Today, Nalepo Initiavie carries this mission forward with renewed purpose. As climate change increasingly threatens pastoralist communities, we are prioritizing sustainable, locally driven solutions. Our flagship project focuses on Bio-gas Energy Production that will transform the abundant animal waste into clean renewable energy.
